The HKEX Innovation Lab explores and accelerates creative new applications of technology
at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX), one of the world’s most pioneering financial
market operators.
Lukas’ team runs a portfolio of projects that apply targeted AI, smart automation and
knowledge-based solutions to augment HKEX’s operations in areas such as IPO admission,
listed company regulation, market data and surveillance.
The 2,700 companies listed in Hong Kong include some of the most exciting entrepreneurial
growth stories of the modern era, and HKEX strives to use the full resources of this
incredible network to make the city’s capital markets more open, more accessible to
younger generations and, above all, more interesting to human and machine intelligence
alike.
Lukas has been involved in a number of flagship initiatives that have put Hong Kong on the
international markets map, including the acquisition of London Metal Exchange, China-Hong
Kong Stock Connect, Bond Connect, and the landmark reforms of the city’s IPO regime that
has propelled it to the #1 listing venue in the world over the past decade.
Before joining HKEX in 2012, Lukas was an investment banker with Rothschild focused on
structuring bank bailouts during the global financial crisis, most memorably those of Lehman
Brothers, Fortis, ABN AMRO and the Irish banking sector.
